Dr. Hall has been integrally involved in the education management, direct response, and customer relationship management industries since 1992. At G2 Direct Response Services, Dr. Hall developed and oversaw a professional sales organization that transformed G2 into a leading provider of high-end direct response marketing and corporate outsourcing solutions to high-profile call center clients, including Gemstar-TV Guide, Time Warner Cable, the Walt Disney Company, and Sony Pictures.
In 1998, John co-founded Greenwood Hall. With locations across the country and over 150 employees, the Company has become a market leader in supporting universities throughout the United States in all areas of the student life cycle including recruitment, student experience, retention, learning outcomes, and financial aid advising. As Greenwood Hall’s CEO, John is a sought-after leader in the education management space. He possesses an unparalleled knowledge of the marketplace coupled with an ability to innovate, extensive industry relationships, and a substantial educational background. John is also a respected business leader, successfully incubating and spinning off other well-known education, high value companies including enCircle Media (now US Interactive Media).
John is a trusted advisor to university presidents across the country in the areas of sustainability, the future of higher education, enrollment management, new markets, overcoming institutional resistance to change, and school turnarounds. He has also been a distinguished speaker for groups including the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, United States Distance Learning Association, and The Education Alliance. Industry financial analysts, as well as leading authors who write about the higher education marketplace, have also relied upon his unique knowledge of the space. Further, John has published work in the area of higher education oversight as it relates to accreditation, federal, and market regulation.
Education is not only a profession for John, but also a lifelong passion. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Roosevelt University in Chicago and has mentored college-ready high school students at the Roybal Education Center in Downtown Los Angeles since 2010. John, a dedicated lifelong learner holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University, as well as a Doctorate of Education from the University of Southern California.
In addition to his work and education, John is a published author and inspirational speaker about Autism and the education of children with special needs. He has been prominently featured on radio and television appearances on ABC, CBS, and FOX. John has spoken nationally to thousands of parents, educators, therapists, and kids/young adults recovering from Autism. Mr. Newcomb is a managing director at Berenson & Company, LLC, a New York advisory and investment firm. Previously, he served as CEO of Cambium Learning, an educational services company based in Boston that was sold to private equity firm Veronis Suhler in 2008. From 1994 through 2002, Newcomb was chairman and chief executive officer of Simon & Schuster, at the time America’s largest educational, reference, professional and trade publisher. Prior to that, he was president and COO of Simon & Schuster. He also served as president of McGraw-Hill’s Financial and Economic Information Group. Newcomb began his career with the Dun & Bradstreet Corporation.
Mr. Newcomb currently sits on the boards of United Business Media, Journal Communications and LearningExpress, LLC. He is a past member of the board of trustees of Dartmouth College, and also currently sits on the boards of the Columbia University School of Business and New School University in New York City.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA in finance from Columbia Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Rubinstein was a business manager in the music business handling the financial affairs of prominent artists such as Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Eagles, David Geffen, Joni Mitchell and Jackson Browne. He served as Chairman and CEO of American Broadcasting Company’s music division and acquired United Artist Records establishing acts such as Kenny Rogers, Tina Turner and Gerry Rafferty. A pioneer in the programming, marketing and distribution of digital music, Mr. Rubinstein founded and sold DMX, Inc. and XTRA Music to Liberty Media. He sat on the board of directors of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and currently serves as a director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of CKE Restaurants and non-executive Chairman of US Global Investors, Inc. Mr. Poutre has over twenty five years of experience running, financing, advising, and building publicly traded and private companies. Mike started his career in the early 90’s at Smith Barney, and eventually had his own broker dealer, serving as both a securities and options principal. From 2003 to 2006, Mike served as President and Chief Compliance Officer for The Blue & White Fund, an Israeli based mutual fund. His career evolved into being retained to help growing companies scale, restructure, and refinance. In this capacity, he has aided public and private companies in achieving their goals. Mike and his partners launched Redwood Fund, LP, a fund dedicated to investing in micro-cap companies, and doing so in a responsible manner. Greenwood Hall is a portfolio company of Redwood, and they have been instrumental in our eveolution as a publicly traded company. Mike’s latest business endeavor involves serving as the CEO of Utilligent, Inc., a boutique management consulting firm that acts as a trusted advisor for our nation’s largest utilities. Mike earned his B.A. from Whittier College, where he was a Whittier Scholar and the recipient of the Richard M. Nixon Scholarship. Mike also earned his MBA from California Lutheran University.
